K-12 Public School Mask Mandate Rescinded

Mask

April 20, 2021

Good Morning Students, Parents and Faculty of TUSD#4,

As new information has been received, it has been carefully studied to determine if it would cause
us to change our course of action. We have considered feedback from many sources. TUSD#4 continues
to work with other local school districts to take necessary steps to insure the continued safety of
our students and staff.

Yesterday, April 19,2021, in Executive Order 2021-10, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey rescinded
paragraph 5 of Executive Order 2020-51, which mandated a face covering requirement for K-12 Public
Schools.

Starting, April 20, 2021, the mandated face covering requirement at all Thatcher
Schools campuses and properties will be optional.

As the district Superintendent, I am very pleased with the response of the students, staff, parents
and community throughout the last several months. It is with great excitement that I share my
appreciation to the dedication of the Governing Board, school district faculty and staff and
parents in continuing to provide an appropriate and outstanding educational experience for every
student, especially during the last several months.

If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to a building administrator or myself.

Thanks for continuing to decide to be a part of the “EAGLE NATION”,

Matthew D Petersen
Superintendent
